While we wish we could talk about all of these important health awareness topics, we would like to write about Healthy Lung Month.

You learn very early on that your lungs are one of your vital organs. When they do not function properly, your quality of life decreases as well. It can be easy to take for granted the simple task of breathing, but lung function is anything but simple.
Your lungs do more than breathe in air; according to Medical News Today, your lungs are responsible for balancing your PH levels, so there is not too much carbon dioxide in your body. They help filter small blood clots and act as a blood reservoir. They also protect you from infections by catching bacteria, dust, and other harmful particles.

Medical News Today suggested eating anti-inflammatory foods such as blueberries, walnuts, olives, and nuts. They also suggested drinking green tea, which is full of antioxidants.
Keeping your home clean is a must for helping your lungs stay healthy. Dirt and dust in your home are breathed into your lungs. The Lung Institute recommends using a vacuum with a HEPA filter and testing for Radon in your home. They also recommend adding plants to your home, which is a great natural way to purify the air.
Steam therapy is another excellent way to cleanse your lungs. When you inhale warm water vapor, the droplets travel through your nasal passages and to your lungs. Along the way, they help loosen mucus. The warm air is also good for relieving symptoms from respiratory conditions such as the cold, flu, and bronchitis and reducing inflation.
